Trilateral Research is pleased to announce that, alongside our partner Vrije Universiteit Brussel, we have signed new contracts with the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS). The work includes assisting each organisation with drafting their annual activity reports for 2020.
As part of this work, we have the opportunity to liaise directly with both organisations to understand and communicate their activities and future priorities in an accessible way. We hope to optimise the reach and accessibility of the EDPB/EDPS reports. Our aim will be to help as many people as possible understand the mission, activities, and contributions of both organisations to the development of a strong and uniform data protection culture in the European Union.
The European Data Protection Board Annual Report 2020 will include summaries of the Guidelines, Opinions, and other guidance issued by the Board in 2020. This will include summaries of publicly available information on specific data protection issues, such as consent and international data transfers, and new technology areas, including targeting of social media users and data processing in the context of connected vehicles. The report will also provide summaries of the EDPB’s consistency findings and cross-border cooperation procedures as well as other publicly-released documentation. In addition, the report will include the outcome of a survey to collect feedback from a variety of stakeholders on EDPB’s publicly released material.
The European Data Protection Supervisor Annual Report 2020 will include information on their main supervision, enforcement, policy, and technology monitoring activities. The report will highlight the facilitation of good practice in areas such as data protection in the management of the current health crisis, as well as the provision of information and undertaking of activities for EU institutions, bodies, and agencies.
Each report will enable stakeholders in the European Union and beyond to better understand the activities of each organisation and their contributions to the data protection landscape. Furthermore, the executive summaries of each report will be translated into 23 languages, to further promote their work across Europe.

The reports will be released to the public in April 2021.
