The ResiStand Final Conference: boosting disaster resilience through standardisation

ResiStand is a a two-year project (May 2016 – April 2018) that aims to identify new ways to improve the crisis management and disaster resilience capabilities of the European Union and individual Member States through standardisation.

On the 17th and 18th January 2018, ResiStand’s partners gathered in Berlin, Germany to discuss the ResiStand Process and plans for the final conference. Leading the ResiStand’s activities for the project dissemination, communication, and stakeholder involvement, Trilateral is taking an active role in the organisation of the conference.

Stakeholder engagement has been a key feature of the ResiStand project throughout with the creation of ResiStand’s three Stakeholder Communities:

  • the Standards Advisory Group
  • End-User Community
  • Supplier Community

ResiStand’s partners have engaged with these communities, comprised of approximately 200 stakeholders, and gained their feedback through workshops held across Europe, interviews and surveys bringing together research and industry’s perspective.

The ResiStand Conference: A New Platform for Boosting Disaster Resilience through Standardisation taking place in Berlin on 22 March 2018 is a new opportunity for everyone to rejoin. Policymakers, practitioners, standardisation bodies and stakeholders from industry and research will join ResiStand’s partners for insightful discussions on The ResiStand Process: an approach that brings together pre-standardisation and a stakeholder management processes.

A New Platform for Boosting Disaster Resilience through Standardisation, Resistand projectAdditionally, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the dynamic ResiStand Roadmap for potential future standardisation activities. The conference will provide participants with the opportunity to exchange ideas and gain new insights through the:

  • Keynote speeches about the state of disaster resilience by representatives from the European Commission and Standardisation Committees
  • Presentations and panel discussions on the ResiStand Process and Roadmap with participants from all stakeholder communities
  • Networking sessions providing an opportunity to connect with a wide variety of stakeholders from across Europe to discuss future collaboration and business opportunities
