Trilateral’s Anna Donovan recently presented findings from the TRACE Project on the role of technology in human trafficking at the 2016/2017 webinar series titled, “New Technologies, innovation, Entrepreneurship Tackling Human Trafficking.” The webinar series is jointly hosted by the Babson College Initiative on Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery and the Global Initiative against Transnational Organised Crime and is supported by the Terrorism, Transnational Crime and Corruption Centre at Mason University. Anna provided an overview of findings on technology-facilitated trafficking, including web-based technologies, software and hardware that are commonly used by traffickers, as well as key findings and recommendations for stakeholders. Presentations were followed by a robust panel discussion involving Anna and her fellow panellists: Neil Giles (Interim Director, Centre for Intelligence Led Prevention, Stop the Traffik); Petru Sinculei (Senior Manager, Global Investigations, Western Union); and Jennifer Musto (PhD, Assistant professor, Women’s and Gender Studies Department, Wellesley College).
