She will be assisting the Data Protection and Cyber Security team in supporting public and private bodies in complying with the latest data protection regulations in order to prevent cyber-risks and manage data with confidence. Her focus is on GDPR compliance and data governance in large-scale projects, including data protection impact assessments, records of processing activities and incident response.
Alkmini is a legal counsel in data privacy and compliance. She holds an LL.B. in European and International law from the University of Maastricht and an LL.M. in Computer and Communications Law from Queen Mary University of London.
Prior to joining Trilateral, Alkmini contributed to Europol’s Data Protection Experts Network (EDEN) while working for the Data Protection Function at Europe’s Law Enforcement Agency. She has also worked as a consultant in various consulting and law firms in Athens, London and Brussels. She has delivered multiple GDPR trainings.
While at Queen Mary, Alkmini participated in research groups as a research assistant. Her LL.M. dissertation focused on Artificial Intelligence and Targeted Advertising, analysing the marketing practices of tech giants with regards to the GDPR as well as developing a way for data subjects to receive compensation for the use of their data.
Alkmini is interested in the intersection of law and technology. Novel technological advancements should always be regulated in a way that serves the interest of European Member States. Moreover, Alkmini actively tries to combat misinformation on social media, stop the spread of fake news and fight online radicalisation.
