James Cadman

Data Scientist

Role at Trilateral

James is a data scientist at Trilateral, primarily working on project Honeycomb and STRIAD. His work involves utilising data science and NLP techniques to extract key insights about human trafficking in the UK from various data sources, and general software development for the Honeycomb dashboard.

Background

James has recently completed his PhD in Astrophysics at the University of Edinburgh, where his research focussed on using computational methods to study the earliest stages of planet formation in protoplanetary discs, as well as some work on exoplanet discovery. During his PhD, he assisted in the teaching of many undergraduate courses at the University of Edinburgh, across statistics, programming and physics, and published a number research papers in peer-reviewed journals. Prior to this, James completed his Master’s degree in Physics and Astrophysics at the University of Sheffield.

Previously James has worked in various software engineering roles. Most recently he worked as part of a healthcare-focussed data science team where his role involved developing machine learning methods to classify medical images, such as CT scans. He is interested in applications of AI which focus on addressing complex societal issues, and driving social good.
