Robin Renwick

Role at Trilateral

Robin is part of the Applied Research and Innovation (ARI) team at Trilateral Research. He joined TRI as research lead for the Horizon 2020 project, SOTER. SOTER was tasked with the development of a biometric identification and authentication digital on-boarding platform (DOP) for the open-banking environment. Trilateral led the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA+) process and the human factors-based cybersecurity research. Currently, Robin supports two further Horizon 2020 projects – iToBoS, and PANDEM-2working predominantly on the PIA+ tasks. 


Prior to his work at Trilateral Research, Robin developed an interdisciplinary research background; concerned with the triumvirate of networks, technology, and society. He has experience in building bespoke technological solutions that explore how emerging technologies affect human-computer interactions and/or leverage affordances for networked participants. He has a number of published papers and book chapters in the fields of information systems, financial technology, and experimental music. 

 Robin is currently a member the International Standards Organisation (ISO) Technical Committee (TC), entitled ISO/TC 307 Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies, involved in workgroups WG5 – Governance, and JWG4 – Security, Privacy, and Identity. He is also part of the European CEN/CELEC/JTC19/WG1 – Decentralised Identity Management workgroup, tasked with developing the technical specifications for a decentralised identity management architecture. Robin is also a member of the ITU-T Digital Currency Global Initiative, involved with the Policy and Governance working group, including the Financial Inclusion, and Privacy, Identity, AML, and KYC workstreams.
