Vangjel is a Data Protection Intern.
He is part of the Applied Research and Innovation team, working primarily on projects for the European Union’s Data Protection Agencies by researching, writing and editing content on data protection and privacy. He also contributes on different Horizon Europe’s projects, such as CURSOR and INGENIOUS that focus on integrating smart tech in search and rescue operations.
Vangjel’s areas of expertise are research and consultancy in International law, Human Rights, European Law and Transitional Justice. His main professional interests include the interconnectivity of data protection and privacy, international law and emerging tech (in particular AI and sustainable innovation).
He holds two LL.M. degrees – one in ‘Public International Law’ with specialisation in Human Rights at Utrecht University, and another in ‘International Law and Relations and Law of the European Union’ at University Ss. Cyril and Methodius – and a LL.B. at University Ss. Cyril and Methodius. Vangjel has made significant legal contributions towards the transitional justice efforts in Sudan, through his work for the global pro bono law firm Public International Law & Policy Group (PILPG).
